Congratulations! Can you believe you’re in your third trimester and on the home run already? It’s around this time that many mums-to-be feel as though their bump is in the limelight and while some are pleased to showcase their tummy, others don’t really want to be patted! Don’t grit your teeth – just let people know.

My bump seems to be public property - what can I do?
Lots of mums find around this stage that they keep getting patted by complete strangers! While you might appreciate someone giving up their seat for you, it can sometimes get a bit annoying when others come up and pat your stomach!

If you feel uncomfortable, you could try keeping your hands folded across your front. Or you could just say simply, ‘Please don’t touch my bump’. It really is fine to have some limits like this – some women can’t stand to be touched when pregnant, whereas others don’t mind at all.

Lots of mums-to-be and mums who have recently given birth suffer with haemorrhoids or ‘piles’. There are some simple things you can do to help relieve the discomfort - or your midwife may also be able to recommend some piles cream or ointment.
