Dear Teething Runny
It’s natural for new mums to want to spend some stress-free time preparing for and bonding with their baby. Thankfully, when it comes to maternity leave, your entitlements as a mum today are better than ever before. Take a look at your statutory rights below and click through to read more. If you'd like any help working it all out, just let us know.

What are my maternity rights?
If you've been working for your employer for 26 continuous weeks into the 15th week before your baby is due, you'll qualify for Statutory Maternity Pay. You’ll receive 90% of your salary for the first six weeks. Then you’ll switch to Maternity Allowance for the next 33 weeks or 90% of your average earnings if that is lower.

At the moment, all mums-to-be qualify for Statutory Maternity Leave of up to 52 weeks, whether or not you also qualify for Statutory Maternity Pay. You can start your maternity leave up to 11 weeks before your baby is due. Or if you would rather have more time with your baby when they’re born you could work right up until your due date and take the full amount afterwards. Health and nutrition tip
If you’re suffering from heartburn, there are several things that can help ease it. Avoid spicy foods, citrus juice, chocolate, and coffee, and when eating, take small mouthfuls and chew well. Try not to lie down straight after having a meal and, when you do go to bed, prop yourself up on a couple of pillows. Ask your midwife or doctor about taking antacids too – for taking as soon as you feel your heartburn come on.

Your baby’s face and body look much more like those of a newborn, although their skin is still transparent and they haven’t yet developed a layer of fat.
