Bounty Get Pregnant Pregnancy Baby Toddler Family Time Family Time

 Dear Miss Runnynose,

From planning a family to living with one, Bounty gives you the support you need to keep everything running smoothly. We'll be with you every step of the way. Here's what you need to know this week...

Shop before you pop!

Get kitted out while you still can.

You

It's a good time to start shopping around for baby stuff - if you leave it too late, you'll be too heavy to walk around all the shops.

Also this week, if you've had an amniocentesis, you'll probably be getting the results soon. Find out more about safety in the workplace in your second trimester. Plus, what's so special about breastmilk?

Your baby

Your little one now measures around 27cm from head to toe and is growing eyebrows and eyelashes. He or she can now hear when you talk - try singing or reading to them and see if you get any kicks in response.

Looking for ways to spend quality time with your family over Easter? Wherever you are, we've got bags of ideas to help you get out and about.

April weather can be a bit hit and miss though, so if your day trip or egg hunt has been rained off we've got lots of indoor ideas too. Or why not throw an Easter party?

And if you're left with a mountain of chocolate, try these delicious recipes to help use some of it up.

Dear Teething Runny
It’s natural for new mums to want to spend some stress-free time preparing for and bonding with their baby. Thankfully, when it comes to maternity leave, your entitlements as a mum today are better than ever before. Take a look at your statutory rights below and click through to read more. If you'd like any help working it all out, just let us know.

What are my maternity rights?
If you've been working for your employer for 26 continuous weeks into the 15th week before your baby is due, you'll qualify for Statutory Maternity Pay. You’ll receive 90% of your salary for the first six weeks. Then you’ll switch to Maternity Allowance for the next 33 weeks or 90% of your average earnings if that is lower.

At the moment, all mums-to-be qualify for Statutory Maternity Leave of up to 52 weeks, whether or not you also qualify for Statutory Maternity Pay. You can start your maternity leave up to 11 weeks before your baby is due. Or if you would rather have more time with your baby when they’re born you could work right up until your due date and take the full amount afterwards. To find out more about maternity leave, read our article, What are my maternity rights?

Health and nutrition tip
If you’re suffering from heartburn, there are several things that can help ease it. Avoid spicy foods, citrus juice, chocolate, and coffee, and when eating, take small mouthfuls and chew well. Try not to lie down straight after having a meal and, when you do go to bed, prop yourself up on a couple of pillows. Ask your midwife or doctor about taking antacids too – for taking as soon as you feel your heartburn come on.
Sam, nutritionist
Your baby’s face and body look much more like those of a newborn, although their skin is still transparent and they haven’t yet developed a layer of fat.
