Dear Teething Runny
Did you know, during your baby’s first year, their nutritional needs change in order to support their growth and development? In fact, between 6 and 12 months your baby will go through a particularly rapid phase of development, from being able to sit up to eat, to learning to crawl, as well as developing their first teeth! From 6 months, getting enough vitamin D and iron from their diet is particularly important as the iron stores they were born with will have begun to run low. That’s why milk still plays a vital part in their diet. If you’re bottlefeeding, moving to a follow-on milk at 6 months can help support their food diet by providing more of the key nutrients your baby needs to help them continue developing healthily and happily.

Why your baby needs more key nutrients from 6 months

Your baby’s growing stronger by the day! All of these changes mean their nutritional needs are changing too; from 6 months the natural iron stores they were born with begin to run low and their growing teeth and bones need vitamin D in order to develop healthily.

As they are still only eating small amounts of food at this stage, it can be tricky to get all of the nutrients your baby needs from food alone. Vitamin D, for example, is only found in a handful of foods, such as oily fish. That’s why, if you’re bottlefeeding, at 6 months you might want to consider moving to Cow & Gate Complete Care Follow-on Milk to complement their weaning diet. It provides key nutrients needed to support your baby's food diet from 6 months, helping them to continue developing healthily and happily.

As well as our milks, we’ve created a range of Cow & Gate meals, desserts and drinks that are full of the nutrition your baby needs at each stage of their development. They’re all made with the best baby grade ingredients and no artificial colourings, flavourings or preservatives. You can read more about our delicious range of baby foods on our website.
