Pregnancy and maternity rights in the workplace
As a pregnant employee there are a number of benefits that you may be entitled to. These include maternity leave and pay, or maternity allowance and parental leave. In order to use these benefits there are a number of things that you must know and do. Read more here
Information and advice
The pregnancy at work leaflet summarises the rights and responsibilities of both pregnant employees and their employers. Additional advice and information can be found at www.direct.gov.uk/workandfamilies for you and www.businesslink.gov.uk/workandfamilies for your employer.
Talking to your employer
Talking to your employer about your plans from an early stage will help you both, so the leaflet also sets out what you should do or think about to help both of you manage your pregnancy, your maternity leave and your return to work.

The leaflet includes a section for you to give your employer. Passing it on will make sure your employer can find out what they need to know.
Paternity rights in the workplace
Your partner may also be able to take up to two weeks' paternity leave when your baby is born and additional paternity leave which allows him to take time off to care for your baby if you go back to work before the end of your maternity leave.

Your partner may find it helpful to pass a copy of the leaflet to their employer when they discuss paternity leave.

Bounty Get Pregnant Pregnancy Baby Toddler Family Time For You

 Hi Ronak,

From planning a family to living with one, Bounty gives you the support you need to keep everything running smoothly. We'll be with you every step of the way. Here's what you need to know this week...

Time for the first jabs

Why your baby needs their immunisations.

You

If you've had a caesarean, read our recovery tips to help you heal quickly and minimise any discomfort. Also this week, find out how to juggle your finances if you're on your own, plus enjoy our new mum know-how, including 21 amazing facts about just how clever your baby is (even smarter than you thought!).

Your baby

Your baby is discovering the best toy of all - themself! He or she will be playing with their hands, learning about their own body.

Next week your baby will have their first immunisations - and you'll probably feel incredibly guilty (possibly even tearful) for letting a total stranger stick needles into your bundle of joy, even though you know you're doing the best for them.

Food for thought

Dealing with a picky eater.

Of course, your little one should get their essential nutrients from the food they eat. But if you're unlucky enough to have a picky eater, it's also recommended that they receive a daily supplement of vitamins A, C and D. Find out more here.

You really can't beat toys for helping toddlers to develop through play. One of the great things about toys is that they don't have to be expensive or complicated to do the trick. We've got some great advice this week on how toys can bring out the best in your toddler.

From time to time we could all do with some practical advice on money matters. So we've put together a handy guide to budgeting for a family.
