Dear Teething Runny
Over the next few years, your toddler will be developing at an astonishing rate, as they learn to walk, talk and interact with others. To support all this learning, they need a healthy, balanced diet, which includes plenty of iron – important for brain development. You’ll find some useful articles on our website related to the importance of iron in your toddler’s diet, but if you have any questions, just get in touch.

Why is iron important for my toddler?
From managing that first wobbly walk to realising that they can say ‘no!’ your toddler is on their way to developing lots of skills, which will help them become more independent. And all this learning relies on an active brain – by the time they’re 3 years old, your toddler’s brain will be twice as active as an adult’s! By including iron-rich foods in your toddler’s diet, you can help make sure you are supporting this healthy growth.
Just 2 beakers* (equal to 300ml) of Cow & Gate Growing Up MIlk  provides over 50% of a toddler's recommended daily iron requirement (RNI).

Getting iron into your toddlers diet can be tricky, and things like fussy eating phases and being poorly can make it even more of a challenge. By including iron-rich foods such as red meat, leafy green vegetables, fortified breakfast cereals, and Cow & Gate Growing Up Milk in your toddlers daily diet, you can go a long way to helping them reach the recommended daily iron requirement (RNI)

* 2 x 150ml beakers
Reference Nutrient Intake is an amount of a nutrient that is enough, or more than enough, for about 97% of a defined group e.g. toddlers 1-3yrs.

Health and nutrition tip
Many mums don't realise that their toddlers may not be getting their recommended 6.9mg of iron a day. So we’ve come up with an online iron calculator to help you check your toddler’s daily iron intake. It’s really easy to use, so why not give it a try?

As they have a tinier tummy than you, your toddler needs to eat small meals that are full of energy and nutrients, more often.
