Your New Baby: Month 3

Pampers Village New Baby
Month 3
New Me My Family & World
Your Baby, Month 3

Hi Ronak,

A NEW CHAPTER IN YOUR SOCIAL LIFE By the time your baby reaches three months of age, your life is probably settling down a little and daily routines are getting more established. This gives you the opportunity to rediscover some of the more pleasant and relaxing aspects of family life. Why not organise a little trip for the three of you. Or take some time out to have fun as a couple again. Just because you are parents now, doesn't mean it's the end of your social life! So try to make a special effort this month for renewed closeness in your relationship. Now that your baby is able to be more interactive and sociable, she will be able to really enjoy having the undivided attention of whomever is lucky enough to be chosen for babysitting duties!

Your baby's growing social awareness

Becoming Sociable At three months of age, your baby is really beginning to take her place in the world. She actively seeks the attention of those closest to her, smiles and vocalises to communicate her pleasure. But as her social world expands, she faces the challenge of predicting other people's behaviour and this can sometimes make her anxious. Click here to find out more.

Stocking up your medicine cabinet

Stocking Your Medicine Cabinet Your baby should not be given any medication without proper advice from your doctor or a qualified pharmacist until she reaches six months. But it's useful to keep certain items to hand for emergencies. For a complete list of must-haves, click here.

Will my baby ever sleep through the night?

Working Towards a Good Night's Sleep You may have to wait a few more months before your little one is ready to stay asleep for more than three hours at a time overnight. But implementing a good bedtime routine early on in life, and sticking to it as rigidly as possible, will help the process to happen faster. Sleeping through the night is as much about learning as it is about maturity. Find out more.

Get back into shape with postnatal workouts

Getting Back Into Shape Taking up regular exercise is the best way to get fit again and start losing the excess pregnancy weight you've been carrying. But you must get the all-clear from your GP first, as your body is still under the influence of the hormone Relaxin, produced while you were pregnant to make your ligaments more elastic. Click here to find out how turn simple daily tasks into an opportunity to get fit.

Travelling with your baby

Travelling with Baby Getting ready for your first family trip? With the sheer amount of clutter needed for your infant's daily care, travelling with your infant may seem a little daunting. But following simple rules can really reduce the stress. Let your baby set the pace, for instance, and try to organise the trip so as to keep to your routines as much as possible. Click here for more tips.

Helping your child get used to the new baby

Sorting out Sibling Jealousy Now that  baby is taking a more active role in the family, your older child may start to resent her intrusion. Children react to sibling rivalry in different ways, and responses usually takes a few months to surface. Some become withdrawn and quiet while others respond with anger or revert to babyish behaviours. Part of your job as parents is to help your children develop a positive sibling relationship. Click here to find out how.

Baby aerobics

Top Tip for Dad Make a date with your baby and take her for a stroll every Sunday morning to spend quality one-to-one time. It will give you a chance to get to know each other without interruptions, and will give Mummy a much needed and well-earned lie-in.

Top Tip for Mum Involve your baby in your fitness regime. Lie her on a  blanket on the floor next to you while you do your daily exercises, and watch her try to mimick your movements. Using music to introduce rhythm will make it even more stimulating for her, and hopefully buy you a little more time to get those muscles toned!
