Dear Teething Runny
As they get a little older, it’s both amazing and fun to watch your toddler picking up new skills and see their unique personality emerging. On top of all the basic skills they’re learning, like playing and feeding themselves, you’ll soon see little habits and quirks developing. As part of developing their own character and becoming more physically mobile, they may be thinking and acting more independently – not always to your approval! If there’s any part of your toddler’s development that is concerning you, we’re always here to help.

How can I encourage my toddler to learn?
Toddlerhood sees the start of many developments in your child’s body and mind. But although they may seem like a mini adult on the outside, they still have a lot of basic skills to master, such as hand-eye co-ordination.
As well as encouraging your toddler to hold their own spoon, one way you can help them develop their co-ordination is by giving them food they can hold and eat by themselves. Try cutting up fresh fruit and veg into sticks, chunks or silly shapes to make the food more fun. Try decorating plates with smiley faces using different food for different features, or creating your own game to reward your toddler every time a piece of food goes into their mouth. You could even try an indoor picnic with a rug on the floor and snacks to share.
